Jinnah Cap is originally known as a Karakul and Qarakul Hat. Because of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah; Karakul hat got its all time world famous name as Jinnah Cap. Women can not wear this cap as its only men wear. This cap is very famous among Muslims of Pakistan and South Asian Countries.
Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah decided to wear Karakul hat after a great demand of changing his clothing style of western into Muslims dressing touch from the co-members and supporters of All India Muslim League. He wore Karakul hat first time in the Lucknow session of the All India Muslim League on 15 of October in the year of 1937. After adding Karakul hat in his wardrobe; Quaid-e-Azam decided to wear sherwani on most of the pompous events of the making of Pakistan.
By the time Jinnah Cap becomes the symbol of fame and loyalty in the politics of Pakistan. Some of the famous pioneers like Pakistan’s first Prime Minister “Nawabzada Liaquat Ali Khan’, Second President “Field Marshall Ayub Khan” and 9th Prime Minister “Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto” wore mostly Jinnah Cap to show their devotions of following the foot steps of makers of Pakistan.
This cap is made by the fur and wool of the Qarakul. Qarakul is a breed of sheep which has black wool and its name qarakul stands for black wool and fur in Turkic language. Turkic languages are spoken in the northern, central and western Asian areas. And karakul is a small town in the province of Jalal-Abad in the western Kyrgyzstan.
Wool of this cap is taken by Astrakhan, broad-tail qaraqulcha, or Persian lambs. Its common and popular style is in three side shaped hat. This hat is high flat folded shaped. This cap has been the part of various tribes from many past eras of history including Kabul, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
